Agriculture Agency Warns of Rabies in Bali

jpnn.com, BALI - The Buleleng Agriculture Agency in Bali has appealed to local dog owners not to let their pets go wild to prevent the spread of rabid dog bites in the local community.

"The potential for the spread of rabid dogs in Buleleng regency is still large," said the agency's head of livestock and animal health, Made Suparma, as quoted by the Buleleng administration website.

Suparma said the Agriculture Agency continued to carry out vaccinations in every village and sub-district in Bumi Panji Sakti to prevent the spread of rabies.

According to the data obtained, the dog population in Buleleng has reached 111,086.

Some 80 percent of the dogs will be vaccinated.

Currently, only 28,764 dogs have been vaccinated.

"We are carrying out rabies vaccinations in all villages, starting from the priority areas, or the red zones, to the green zones. We have scheduled it all," said Suparma.

According to him, the Covid-19 pandemic has hindered the vaccination process.
