Tourist Killed by Waves While Taking Selfies, Guide Missing
jpnn.com, NUSA DUA - A domestic tourist from Sumba Opu, Gowa regency, South Sulawesi, named Nur Aisyah (22) was killed after being swept away by waves when she was taking selfies at Kelingking Beach, Nusa Dua, Klungkung, on Sunday (24/10) afternoon.
Meanwhile, beach guide Putu Suasta who tried to help Nur when she was dragged by the coastal current has gone missing.
Search efforts are still being carried out by the Bali Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) in the local waters.
"This incident was reported by the head of Bunga Mekar village yesterday evening," said head of the Denpasar Class A Basarnas in Bali, Gede Darmada.
According to the coordinator of the Basarnas alert unit in Nusa Penida, I Putu Cakra Negara, the incident took place when the victim came with her colleague Ifriani (29) and the guide to Kelingking Beach in the afternoon.
At 5 p.m., the victim decided to played in the sand and took selfies with the background of big waves.
Her colleague had reminded the victim not to play too close to the waves.
Before she could run away, a sudden big wave rolled up the victim's body.
