Staying Calm, Confident Helps Indonesia Defeat Malaysia
jpnn.com, SINGAPORE - The Indonesian national soccer team showed a winning mentality when they slaughtered Malaysia 4-1 on the last matchday of Group B of the 2020 AFF Cup, Sunday (19/12).
Left behind 0-1 at minute 13' after a goal was scored by Malaysia's Kogileswaran Raj, Indonesia continued to strike and led to four goals scored by Irfan Jaya (36', 43'), Pratama Arhan (50'), and Elkan Baggott (82').
In a press conference after the match, Indonesian team coach Shin Tae Yong said that he had adviced his team to strengthen their mentality if their opponents made the first goal.
"Even if you're losing a goal, don't panic," said the South Korean tactician.
Another advice from the 52-year-old coach was for players to calmly carry out tactics and strategies as desired.
"I also asked the players to be confident and not lose mentally," he said.
