Zii Jia Suffers Bleeding When Playing Against Anders Antonsen
jpnn.com, HUELVA - Malaysian badminton player Lee Zii Jia failed to qualify for the 2021 BWF World Championships Finals after suffering an injury when playing against Anders Antonsen from Denmark in the semifinals.
Starting the first game, which took place at the Palacio de los Deportes Carolina Marín, Spain, Friday (17/12), Zii Jia had a 21-12 lead.
However, he gave up 8-21 to Antonsen in the second game.
In the deciding game, Zii Jia, who was the 6th seed in the championships, seemed to have a hard time developing his game.
He trailed 1-11 in the third game interval.
Apparently, Zii Jia had a problem in his leg. He finally chose to retire so that his injury would not get worse.
His coach, Hendrawan, said Zii Jia had bleeding in the sole of his foot, so he could not continue the game.
"It was the bleeding he got from the fight against Hans Vittinghus. The next morning, he said he was still injured. We covered the injured area with a bandage," said Hendrawan.
