Loan Dealers Terrorize Wonogiri Woman Until She Hangs Herself
jpnn.com, WONOGIRI - A woman in Wonogiri, Central Java, hanged herself after being terrorized by illegal online loan dealers, according to the National Police's directorate of special economic crimes.
The police arrested the head of the Solusi Andalan Bersama savings and loans cooperative, where a Chinese loan dealer worked.
"We arrested JS, who is a facilitator for Chinese foreigners and a community recruiter who found people to lead fictitious and illegal loan operations," the director of special economic crimes, Brigadier General Helmy Santika said in a press release on Friday (22/10).
According to Helmy, JS's cooperative funded many online lending apps such as Fulus Mujur and Pinjaman Nasional, one of which allegedly terrorized the victim.
"From an investigation, we found that the victim died from hanging herself after having borrowed money in 23 illegal online lending apps. One of them was Fulus Mujur," said Helmy.
The police confiscated a number of evidences such as mobile phones, hundreds of cooperative establishment certificates, hundreds of stamps, 2 CPUs, and dozens of tax identification cards.
The police also arrested two of JS's allies, MDA and SR.
Helmy appealed to the public to immediately contact this hotline number if they found illegal lending practices.
