english.jpnn.com, SURABAYA - The Wonocolo Police criminal investigation unit in East Java arrested on Thursday (30/9) an old man who allegedly forged marriage documents.

The perpetrator was Umar Hadi, a resident of Rungkut Kidul, Surabaya. Umar's arrest was made after the police received information about the shipment of fake marriage certificates.

Umar was ambushed when he was about to send fake marriage certificates on Jalan Siwalankerto, Surabaya.

"In the interrogation that our team conducted during the raid, the perpetrator admitted that he produced the marriage certificates himself," said Wonocolo Police Chief Commissioner Roycke HF Betaubun on Thursday (21/10).

The Wonocolo Police then headed to the perpetrator's rental place to conduct a search.

There, the police found out that he also forged diplomas. "We found several fake documents made by the perpetrator," said Roycke.

Umar was then taken to the police station for further investigation.

Apparently, he had languished in prison because of the same charge.
