3,000 Security Personnel Guard Christmas Celebrations in Surabaya
jpnn.com, SURABAYA - Some 3,000 joint personnel from the National Police, the Indonesian Military (TNI), the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), and related stakeholders will be deployed to guard Christmas and New Year's Eve celebrations in Surabaya, East Java.
This was revealed by Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi during an assembly at the City Hall on Friday (12/24).
Eri ensured that Christmas and New Year's Eve celebrations in his city would not prevent the state's efforts to contain the Covid-19 pandemic.
"I have also issued a circular to follow up on the Home Affairs Ministry," he said.
Accompanied by Surabaya Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) officials, Eri has reviewed the readiness of several churches to ensure that they run the right procedures.
"We ask for your prayers so that Christmas and New Year's Eve will run safely and comfortably. We also urge that there are no massive crowds," he said.
