Jokowi Hopes Young People Take Central Role in Leading Change
jpnn.com, JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo assesses that Indonesian youth have a central role to be leaders of change, especially in the current digital era.
Jokowi sees that youth have the biggest strength of the demographic bonus in Indonesia, which allow them to take risks, seize opportunities, and be innovative.
"Young people must continue to equip themselves with the latest and the latest [innovation]. The previous generation must continue to rejuvenate themselves, adopt new ways of thinking and working," said Jokowi at the virtual commemoration of the 93rd Youth Pledge Day, Thursday (28/10).
Jokowi said that age was not a limit to stay young.
The former Jakarta governor explained that Indonesia's achievements like the growth of successful startups that become global players were evidence of the strength of Indonesian youth.
"The works of young Indonesian musicians and artists who have a world reputation are increasing. The great achievements of our youth athletes make the nation proud," he continued.
Jokowi also believes that youth must be able to win competitions in a world full of disruption, to become leaders who dare to take the initiative and also remain humanist.
"Leaders who want to continue to learn from anyone, about anything, and more importantly leaders who are ready to contribute to the progress of Indonesia," he added.
