'Not Yet Over': Jokowi Reminds Regional Heads of Covid-19
jpnn.com, JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo has reminded all regional heads that the Covid-19 pandemic is not over yet although the number of active cases has been decreasing.
"[The number of cases] is in a good position, at a low position, but I need to remind you that this pandemic is not over yet," said Jokowi at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday (25/10), when giving a virtual briefing to regional heads in Indonesia.
Jokowi said that there were still a number of indicators that must be addressed properly, such as the bed occupancy rate and the positivity rate (the number of people who are positive for Covid-19 on top of all tests).
The current effective reproduction rate of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia is below the standards of the World Health Organization (WHO).
The former Jakarta governor also assessed that the number of daily Covid-19 cases had decreased dramatically compared to the peak of transmission in July, which reached 56,000 people per day.
In the last four days, the daily cases of Covid-19 nationally were relatively low.
There were 760 cases on Friday, 802 cases on Saturday, 623 cases on Sunday, and 460 cases on Monday.
However, Jokowi also mentioned the trend of positive cases globally, which has increased by around two percent this week.
President Joko Widodo has reminded all regional heads that the Covid-19 pandemic is not over yet although the number of active cases has been decreasing.
