West Pasaman Regent Hamsuardi appealed to residents to remain vigilant and be aware of aftershocks.
An aid post was established early in Nagari Kajai, the area most affected by the earthquake.
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said the earthquake had no potential for a tsunami. (antara/mcr20/jpnn)
