Jan Ethes Wins Taekwondo, Gets Call from Jokowi
jpnn.com, SURAKARTA - President Jokowi's grandson, Jan Ethes, has won a gold medal after overthrowing his opponents at a taekwondo match.
His father, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who is the Mayor of Surakarta, uploaded a 59-second video on his account @gibran_tweet, Sunday (14/11).
"Yesterday, his grandfather called him," Gibran told reporters at the Surakarta City Hall, Monday (15/11) morning.
Jan Ethes, who still holds a white belt, took part in a competition called the SKB Solo Sensation at Tirtonadi, Solo, last Saturday.
"This is just a small competition that only three people participated in," said Gibran.
He said that his eldest son had just taken the martial arts lessons for one month at one of the martial arts gyms in Gilingan Banjarsari, Surakarta.
Gibran said he wanted to give his son the freedom to choose the activities he liked.
Prior to taking taekwondo lessons, Jan Ethes had taken piano lessons. However, said Gibran, he was not into it anymore.
