jpnn.com, JAKARTA - The commemoration of Heroes' Day on November 10 marked by the appointment of four late figures to become national heroes.

The four figures appointed by President Joko Widodo included the late Kunciotutu, a figure from Central Sulawesi Province; the late Sultan Aji Muhammad Idris, a figure from East Kalimantan; the late Haji Usmar Ismail, a figure from Jakarta; and the late Raden Aria Wangsakara, a figure from Banten.

"Each of them was awarded the title of a national hero," said Military Secretary Marshal Tonny Harjono at the State Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (10/11).

The appointment of the national heroes is based on Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 109 and 110/2021, dated October 25, 2021.

In addition, Jokowi also appointed 223 recipients of the Bintang Jasa Pratama Honorary Award and 77 recipients of the Bintang Jasa Nararya Honorary Award.

"The late I Ketut Surya Negara, a doctor at the Sanglah Hospital in Denpasar, Bali, and the late Sucilia Indah, a nurse at the Dokter Sitanala Hospital in Tangerang, Banten, join 221 other recipients. Each of them was awarded the Jasa Pratama Award," said Tonny.

Furthermore, the heirs of the late Emialiona Lasia Carolin, a midwife at the Pesanggrahan District Health Center in Jakarta accepted the Jasa Nararya Award and represented 76 other recipients.

The Council of Titles, Merits, and Honors is the party that gives consideration to the proposal for conferring national hero titles and honors. The awarding of titles and honors is regulated under Law No. 20/2009 concerning Titles, Merits, and Honors.
