Why Jokowi Chooses Andika as Candidate for TNI Commander
jpnn.com, JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo had apparently appointed the candidate for the Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander to replace Air Chief Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto before he left for the G20 Summit in Italy.
The President appointed General Andika as a replacement for Hadi, who will retire on December 1, 2021.
"Before leaving abroad, [the President had appointed Andika]," said State Secretary Pratikno at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (3/11).
According to the alumnus of Gajah Mada University, the President was right to appoint Andika as the new TNI Commander.
This is because Andika has been the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army, according to him.
"The requirement to be the TNI Commander is the candidate must have been the Chief of Staff. The Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Air Force has already been the TNI Commander, so now the choice is between that of the Army or the Navy, and the President chose the Army," said Pratikno.
