Pesantren Student Rapes Prove Victim Blaming Is Wrong: Ernest
jpnn.com, JAKARTA - Indonesian celebrity Ernest Prakasa has commented on the recent alleged rapes against dozens of underage female students at pesantren (Islamic boarding school) in West Java.
The comedian and film director hoped that the incidents should teach the public to stop blaming rape victims.
"If this savage man doesn't teach us to stop victim blaming, I don't know what else to say," wrote Ernest Prakasa on Twitter, Friday (12/10), referring to the alleged perpetrator in Bandung, Herry Wirawan.
"Remember this face. Remember the devil lodged in his head. Remember, the victims are innocent," added Ernest.
Herry Wirawan, a Qur'an reciting teacher at a pesantren in Bandung, was suspected of raping a dozen female students. Some became pregnant and gave birth to his children.
Similarly, a teacher and manager of a pesantren in Tasikmalaya allegedly molested nine female students. Two of the incidents are being processed under the law. (ded/mcr20/jpnn)
