Bali Wants Foreign Tourists to Quarantine for Just One Day
jpnn.com, DENPASAR - The central government's decision to reduce the quarantine period for foreign tourists from five days to three days apparently has not satisfied tourism actors in Bali.
Chairman of the Bali Tourism Board (BTB), Ida Bagus Agung Partha Adnyana, hoped that the government would reduce the quarantine period for foreign tourists to just one day.
According to him, a special one-day quarantine can apply to foreign tourists who have received the Covid-19 vaccine twice and come from countries that are indeed permitted to enter Indonesia.
"We respond favorably to [the policy] from five days of quarantine to three days. However, the benchmark for Bali is Phuket Sandbox, Thailand. Our hope is one day," said Ida in Denpasar, Thursday (4/10) .
For him, foreign tourists that have taken a PCR test at the Ngurah Rai Airport and are tested negative should just undergo a day of quarantine. After all, the foreign tourists should be vaccinated twice.
Ida acknowledged that although the border for international flights and foreign tourist visits to Bali had opened since October 14, no foreign tourists had come to book hotel rooms so far.
"No one has booked a hotel yet, maybe the market being targeted is not right," he said.
Previously, however, Bali Governor Wayan Koster said there were 20,000 foreign tourists who had made hotel reservations for November 2021.
BTB hoped that the government would reduce the quarantine period for foreign tourists to just one day.
