Asnawi's Reaction to Faris' Failed Penalty Kick Brings Out Memes

jpnn.com, SINGAPORE - The moment when the Indonesian soccer team captain Asnawi Mangkualam approached Singaporean player Faris Ramli after the latter failed to execute a penalty kick during the 2020 AFF Cup semifinals has gone viral on social media.

A camera caught Asnawi, who seemed to approach and say something to Faris right after the failed kick. 

At that time, the score was tied at 2-2 after Indonesia equalized it with Pratama Arhan's shot in the 87th minute.

Two minutes later, the referee gave a penalty because Arhan committed a violation to the host player. That's when the tension peaked.

Faris were ready to kick, and the Indonesians looked tense.

However, Indonesian goalkeeper Nadeo Arga Winata managed to throw the ball away to the left of the goal post.

Asnawi immediately ran and stopped right in front of Faris, who covered his face after failing to score.

Another Singaporean player, Shahdan Sulaiman, immediately stopped Asnawi's action.
