jpnn.com, JAKARTA - Indonesian national soccer coach Shin Tae Yong said he was ready to bring his team to upcoming tournaments in 2022 after it completed the 2020 AFF Cup.

Indonesia is scheduled to participate in several tournaments throughout 2022, namely the U-23 AFF Cup on February 14-26, the 2021 SEA Games in May, and the 2023 Asian Cup Qualification in June.

"After the AFF Cup, I give the players some days off so they can rest. After that, we focus on the next tournaments," said Shin.

The former South Korean player said that he would prepare the 2022 roadmap for the Garuda squad.

Shin said he was more confident this time after seeing the development of the players during the 2020 AFF Cup, where the team ended up taking second place despite being dominated by young players.

The average age of the Indonesian players is 23.8 years.

Indonesia lost 2-6 on aggregate to Thailand in the 2020 AFF Cup held at the National Stadium, Singapore.

However, the Garuda squad did not return to Indonesia empty-handed. The team was given the Fair Play Team Award, and left-back player Pratama Arhan was awarded the best young player in the 2020 AFF Cup. (antara/mcr20/jpnn)
