'Best Christmas Gift': Yabes Roni Says of AFF Semifinal Win
jpnn.com, SINGAPORE - Indonesian national soccer player Yabes Roni said Indonesia's win in the 2020 AFF Cup semifinals was the best Christmas gift.
The Nusa Tenggara-native and a number of other Christian players are not celebrating Christmas with their families because they are still in Singapore fighting for the top spot.
"This is a great Christmas gift from God for us who don't come home for Christmas," Yabes said after the semifinals.
Indonesia beat Singapore with a score of 4-2 during the semifinals on Saturday (25/12).
Yabes said he was grateful because it was the first time for him to play in the AFF Cup and qualify for the finals.
"This is the first time being in the senior national team, the first time also in the AFF Cup and being able to qualify for the finals. That's amazing," said the Bali United winger.
