Anders Antonsen Says Goodbye, Jonatan Christie Moves to Semifinals
jpnn.com, BALI - Danish badminton player Anders Antonsen made a surprising news at the 2021 Indonesia Open as he announced that he withdrew from the competition.
Antonsen's withdrawal was confirmed only a few hours before his quarter-final match against the host's representative, Jonatan Christie.
In its statement, the Badminton World Federation (BWF) said that Antonsen was currently experiencing a pectoral muscle issue, so he could not continue the game.
The world number three badminton player was advised not to play to speed up his recovery.
"Denmark's Anders Antonsen has withdrawn from the 2021 Indonesia Open citing a pectoral muscle problem. The world number three has been advised by medical doctors that he should not continue to play," the BWF statement read.
Jonathan Christie automatically advanced to the semifinals of the 2021 Indonesia Open.
