Indonesia Open: Malaysian Pair Beaten by Host Representatives
jpnn.com, BALI - Malaysian women's doubles badminton players Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan were eliminated in the top 16 of the 2021 Indonesia Open after being defeated by the host's representatives, Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma and Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi.
Competing at the International Convention Center, Thursday (25/11), Pearly and Thinaah lost the rubber game with a score of 21-14, 20-22, and 17-21 within 1 hour and 21 minutes.
After the match, the eighth seed from Malaysia regretted that they lost momentum at the end of the second game.
Pearly and Thinaah had a chance to take the lead before finally being equalized to 20-20 and defeated with a score of 20-22.
"We lost focus and momentum. Our attacks also weakened at the end of the second game," said Pearly.
After losing in the second game, the world number six doubles could actually control the match in the third set.
Unfortunately, both of them looked like they were running out of energy, so the attacks they built were often broken by Febriana and Amalia.
"We learned a valuable lesson today. In the future, we want to restore our physical condition and start making other plans," added Pearly. (mcr16/mcr20/jpnn)
