PLN Gifts Free Electricity to NTT Residents Ahead of Christmas
jpnn.com, NUSA TENGGARA TIMUR - State-owned electricity company (PLN) has provided free electricity to 250 families in Asulait hamlet, Sarabau village, Belu regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), near the Indonesia-Timor Leste border.
"I express my gratitude and high appreciation for PLN for providing free electricity to people in border areas who have longed for it," Belu Regent Agustinus Taolin said in Kupang, Wednesday (22/12).
With the presence of electricity, the people who lived on the veranda of the country could welcome Christmas and New Year with joy, he said.
It also encouraged faster development in the fields of education, health, and economy in the borders areas, Taolin added.
PLN NTT general manager Agustinus Jatmiko said that PLN's presence in the border areas was in accordance with President Joko Widodo's direction to build Indonesia from the front porch.
The provision of free electricity is part of PLN's social and environmental responsibility (TJSL) program through the One Man One Hope (OMOH) initiative.
