Indonesian Citizens, Foreigners Undergo Omicron Test in West Java

jpnn.com, JAWA BARAT - Some 19 people, who just returned from abroad, have undergone Omicron detection tests using the genome sequencing method in West Java. However, the results have not come out, according to West Java health laboratory head Emma Rahmawati.

The genome sequencing method is one way to detect the Omicron variant of Covid-19, which has spread in a number of countries.

The 19 people, consist of 16 Indonesian citizens and 3 foreigners, were detected positive for Covid-19 after being screened at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Banten.

According to the procedure, they had to undergo genome sequencing tests to determine if they were infected with the Omicron variant.

Emma said the examination was carried out by a laboratory team in Bekasi.

She also added that no Omicron cases had been confirmed so far since the tests were carried out on Friday (3/12).

"They are most likely clear, but there has been no information," Emma said on Wednesday (8/12).

Previously, the West Java Covid-19 task force said it would strengthen the testing, tracing, and treatment (3T) efforts to anticipate the spread of the Omicron variant in the province.
