Thousands of Workers in East Java Demand Minimum Wage Increase
jpnn.com, JAWA TIMUR - Thousands of workers from various regencies and cities in East Java packed the Grahadi State Building, Surabaya, Monday (29/11).
According to JPNN.com's observation, the mass from Gresik and Lamongan arrived at the location at 02.10 p.m.
They were followed by workers from Sidoarjo, Surabaya, Pasuruan, and Mojokerto, who arrived at 04.35 p.m. after doing a long march from the Waru Cito Mall Surabaya roundabout.
They carried several attribute flags from each worker federation.
"The minimum wage that we will enjoy in the future is legally required to be completed and determined according to Government Regulation 78/2015 concerning Wages," shouted one of the orators on the command car.
"The determination of the minimum wage must be final in accordance with the demands of the workers," said one of the orators.
Until 05.34 p.m., East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa was nowhere to be seen.
East Java Indonesian Metal Workers Union Federation deputy secretary Nuruddin Hidayat previously said that workers would sweep their factories in Surabaya so that Governor Khofifah would come out of the Grahadi State Building and meet the workers.
