Indonesia's Purchasing Manager Highest in ASEAN-5: Minister
jpnn.com, JAKARTA - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani has shared that the Indonesian Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) is the highest in ASEAN-5.
"In Indonesia, we see the expansion of manufacturing activities, as indicated by the Indonesian PMI of 52.2," Sri Mulyani said in Jakarta, Monday (25/10).
Sri explained that manufacturing PMIs in various ASEAN countries were also starting to show recovery.
In addition, global manufacturing performance has also improved.
"The expansionary PMI to the level of 54.1 is due to the increasingly controlled Covid-19 cases in various parts of the world," she said.
Following Indonesia, other ASEAN-5 countries that also recorded expansive manufacturing performance were the Philippines at 50.9, Thailand at 48.9, Malaysia at 48.1, and Vietnam at 40.2.
Nevertheless, Sri assessed that manufacturing performance in Europe and the United States were still the main contributors to the continued strengthening of global manufacturing. Their PMIs are at 58.6 and 60, respectively.
In addition, the PMIs of other major countries also appeared to be improving, such as India at 53.7, South Korea at 52.4, Japan at 51.5, and China at 50.
