Call for Jokowi-Prabowo in 2024 Magnifies Despite President's Rejection
jpnn.com, JAKARTA - The Jokowi-Prabowo Community (Jokpro), which supports the pairing of President Joko Widodo and former rival Prabowo Subianto for the 2024 presidential election, has made a public declaration of their push despite Jokowi's previous rejection of a third term.
Jokpro chairperson Baron Danardono said the declaration of support in Jakarta would be a barometer of a movement.
In his presentation, Baron said that the support for Jokowi and Probowo pairing was aimed at avoiding extreme polarization and eliminating identity politics, which occurred after the 2014 presidential election throughout the following elections.
Another reason, Baron continued, was that many national programs had been delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
"For example, the plan to move the capital city to Kalimantan. We can't let it stall because Jokowi can't continue anymore," Baron said on Saturday (23/10).
On the same occasion, Jokpro advisor M. Qodari claimed the idea of pushing Jokowi and Prabowo pairing for the 2024 presidential election was part of the wishes of the Indonesian people.

"Several recent surveys show that around 35 to 40 percent of the total Indonesian voters have agreed with Jokowi for the third term," said Qodari.
Around 70 to 80 million people out of a total of 200 million voters have supported Jokowi for three terms, according to him. (mcr9/mcr20/jpnn)
