Pertamina Asked to Provide Explanations for Repeated Fires
jpnn.com, JAKARTA - House Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad said that the parliament had questioned Pertamina over the Cilacap refinery fire case in June 2021. In fact, there have been conclusions to anticipate similar events from happening in the future.
However, the Pertamina refinery fire occurred again after the evaluation by legislators.
"Therefore, I think the relevant commission will ask whether the evaluation from the last meeting has been met or not," said Dasco at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday (16/11).
The legislator from the Gerindra Party faction wants Pertamina to make a refinery inventory based on the vulnerability status, so it can anticipate accidents in certain vulnarable refineries in order to reduce material and immaterial losses.
"They should know which oil refinery is in a red, yellow, or green status, so they can anticipate. Because if there are any explosions, it will not only cause material and state losses but also endanger the environment," he said.
A fire broke out at a Pertamina refinery tank in Cilacap, Central Java on Saturday (13/11) evening.
The corporate secretary of subholding refining & petrochemical at PT Pertamina International, Refinery Ifki Sukarya, stated that the burning Pertamina refinery tank contained pertalite fuel.
However, Ifki said Pertamina had ensured that the supply of fuel and LPGs were sufficient.
The parliament had questioned Pertamina over the Cilacap refinery fire case in June 2021, but the fire reoccurred recently.
