While Abroad, Tunisian Former President Named Treason Suspect
jpnn.com, KAIRO - Tunisia has issued an international notification for the arrest of former president Moncef Marzouki, the TAP news agency reported Thursday (4/11).
The notification was published one month after Marzouki asked France to stop supporting the current government.
There is no detailed information about what charges Marzouki is facing.
However, President Kais Saied in October ordered an investigation into what he called allegations that Marzouki had conspired to endanger national security.
Saied has been increasingly criticized abroad since taking executive power in July.
He did not heed almost the entire mandate of the constitution by controlling almost all powers.
