Vanessa Angel Bounced Out of Car. Here's What Safety Expert Says.
jpnn.com, JAKARTA - East Java Police traffic director Senior Commissioner Lutfi Usman said Indonesian celebrity Vanessa Angel did not wear a seat belt while in the car, so she bounced out and died on the spot.
"So, when she was found at the scene, Vanessa Angel was outside the vehicle," said Latif when contacted, Thursday (4/11).
Meanwhile, Vanessa's husband, Febri "Bibi" Andriansyah, wore a seat belt.
Lutfi said that Bibi was still in the car when he died.
Founder and lead instructor at Jakarta Defensive Driving Consulting (JDDC), Jusri Pulubuhu, said wearing a seat belt did not necessarily ensure someone to survive an accident. However, he said, it could prevent the fatality of accidental injuries.
"It should be understood that wearing a seat belt does not ensure that we are safe, but it reduces the risk of serious injury from a fatal accident," said Jusri when contacted by JPNN.com, Friday (5/10).
Jusri said that data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) showed that 54 percent of serious accidents had a reduced risk when wearing a seat belt.
"This is with a note that we must use the seat belt properly," he emphasized.
