Papua Holds Most Wins at 2021 National Paralympics
jpnn.com, PAPUA - Papua has become the overall champion of the XVI National Paralympic Week (Peparnas).
The host contingent emerged as the best after collecting 294 medals, consisting of 124 gold, 85 silver, and 85 bronze medals.
President Joko Widodo congratulated Papua on the success as an organizer, who was also able to make achievements.
"I would like to congratulate Papua for having successfully organized the National Sports Week (PON) and also the Peparnas. Congratulations for occupying the top place," he said at the closing ceremony of the XVI Peparnas.
West Java, which was the champion at the 2016 Peparnas, dropped to second place after getting 256 medals, consisting of 101 gold, 85 silver, and 70 bronze medals.
The third position was occupied by Central Java with 215 medals, consisting of 88 gold, 55 silver, and 72 bronze medals. In fourth place was South Kalimantan, with 39 gold, 41 silver, and 43 bronze medals. North Sumatra was in the fifth position, with 27 gold, 32 silver, and 15 bronze medals.

The closing ceremony of the XVI Peparnas was held at the Mandala Jayapura Stadium, Saturday (13/11) evening.
