Top 16 Denmark Open: Minions Lift Luggage
jpnn.com, ODENSE - Of the 10 Indonesian badminton players who competed in the last 16 of the 2021 Denmark Open on Thursday (21/10), only six representatives were qualified for the next round.
The six tickets came from several categories, including the men's singles for Jonatan Christie and Tommy Sugiarto.
For the men's doubles, there were Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Bagas Maulana, as well as Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto.
For the women's doubles, there were Greysia Polii and Apriyani Rahayu, and for the mixed doubles Praveen Jordan and Melati Daeva Oktavianti.
From the men's singles, Jonatan Christie successfully advanced to the quarter-finals after defeating Kanta Tsuneyama from Japan in two straight games, 21-11 and 21-9.
Jonatan's success was followed by Tommy Sugiarto who made it to the next round after defeating French representative Thomas Rouxel in a three-game battle 21-18, 16-21, and 21-19.
The surprise came from the men's doubles, where Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Bagas Maulana beat Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo with 17-21, 21-17, and 23-21.
The defeat forced the Minions leave the 2021 Denmark Open.
