The Indonesian double, nicknamed The Minions, won two straight games against Lee Yang and Wang Chi-Lin with a score of 23-21 and 21-19 in the match that took place at the Bali International Convention Center, Nusa Dua, Wednesday (01/12).
Throughout the match, The Minions did seem to dominate the game over the 2020 Tokyo Olympic gold medalists.
Both of them played tactical by reducing many of their own mistakes to win the game.
"We are grateful to have won today's match. We know the opponent is also good, but we played more calmly and set the strategy," said Marcus after the game.
The Minions said they tried not to be haunted by the 18-21, 21-15, and 17-15 defeat to Lee and Wang in their last meeting at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
"We don't think about the previous record. We just want to focus on this tournament and give our best," said Kevin.
