Fake Recruiter of State Firms Earns Rp 1 Billion Amid Pandemic
jpnn.com, SUMATERA UTARA - A man in North Sumatra named Muhammad Erwin (27) has made a fortune by allegedly opening fake job vacancies in state companies. He lured job seekers by providing them job opportunities without prerequisite tests.
"The perpetrator was arrested based on nine victim reports," said Labuhanbatu Police criminal investigation unit head Adjutant Commissioner Rusdi Marzuki in Rantauprapat, Wednesday (12/8) afternoon.
Since May 2020, the perpetrator has made a profit of up to Rp 1 billion from around 20 people.
He could convince people to transfer Rp 80 million to Rp 100 million in an exchange for a position at state companies like railway operator PT KAI.
The money collected was used by the suspect for extravagance.
The Labuhanbatu Police confiscated evidence of a minibus and a number of deposit slips.
