Flash Floods Hit Three Areas in Riau
jpnn.com, RIAU - Flash floods hit three areas in the province of Riau, namely Indragiri Hulu (Inhu) regency, Pekanbaru city, and Dumai.
According to Riau Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) head of the emergency division, Jim Gafur, the intensity of rainfall in the last few days had been very high.
"The flood in Inhu occurred in the districts of Peranap and Kelayang," said Jim in his statement, Friday (5/11).
"The floodwater in Inhu went up as high as the calf. This was due to the Indragiri river overflowing after high rainfall," he added.
Meanwhile, according to him, the disaster in Pekanbaru occurred at several points along the Sail river, Marpoyan Damai district.
Lastly, the flood in Dumai was caused by tidal waves. The flood was still the same as yesterday, namely in Dumai city and South Dumai district.
"However, until now, we have not received a request for equipment and logistics assistance from the three flood-hit areas," he said.
If there is a request for assistance, the BPBD is ready because the equipment and personnel are on standby. On Thursday (4/11), logistical assistance was sent to Dumai.
