Police Undercover as Mower to Arrest Cannabis Producer
english.jpnn.com, TASIKMALAYA - For a week, the Tasikmalaya Police in West Java went undercover to reveal the modus operandi of a man named Iwan (50), the owner of a cannabis field in the mountainous area of Curug Parana Datarandu, Bantarkalong, Tasikmalaya regency.
The case began when the police received information that there was a supply of cannabis in the Bantarkalong area.
The police then immediately launched an investigation.
"For a week, police members disguised themselves as a mower and so on," said Tasikmalaya Police Chief Senior Adjutant Commissioner Rimsyahtono. "Finally, we managed to find 30 cannabis stalks. Some were still young, and some were ready to harvest."
Tasikmalaya Police narcotics division head Adjutant Commissioner Dedi Praja said the perpetrator planted the cannabis using an intercropping system in a chili plantation in order to deceive local residents and the authorities.
"The cannabis trees were planted with chili peppers every two meters," Dedi said in a written statement on Wednesday (20/10).
The perpetrator also admitted to consuming the cannabis, he added.
The police are still hunting for Iwan's supplier of cannabis seeds.
