Policeman Hit by Truck, Died on Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road
jpnn.com, JAKARTA - A member of the traffic police, First Inspector Dwi Setiawan, was hit by a truck and died instantly on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road heading towards Bekasi.
The accident occurred when the victim was escorting the Jakarta Police team at around 11.30 a.m. on Thursday (28/10).
Jakarta Police traffic sub-directorate head Senior Adjutant Commissioner Argo Wiyono said the incident began when Dwi's team was escorting a group of police supervision members who would attend an event in Bekasi.
Dwi was reportedly asking vehicles, including trucks, to pull over and change lanes.
However, a truck suddenly moved to lane four, so it shrunk to the right of the road.
Dwi lost concentration and hit against the road divider.
"As a result, the victim suffered a head injury and died on the spot," Argo said on Thursday.
Argo said that after the incident, the truck driver with the initials CS, fled. His assistant was secured by the police.
