Taliban Ban Female Actors on TV Programs
Wednesday, 24 November 2021 – 23:25 GMT+7
"The disappearance of any space for dissent and worsening restrictions for women in the media and arts is devastating," said Patricia Gossman, associate Asia director at HRW.
Although Taliban officials have tried to convince women and the international community that women's rights will be protected since they took over Afghanistan on August 15, many human rights advocates and women still doubt that promise.
Under the previous Taliban rule, women were not allowed to leave their homes except to attend school or be accompanied by male relatives. (ant/dil/mcr20/jpnn)
