Lawyer of Vanessa Angel's Driver Provided by State

jpnn.com, JOMBANG - Tubagus Muhammad Joddy Prames Setya, the driver of the late Vanessa Angel and Febri Andriansyah and the suspect in the car accident that killed the celebrity couple, has said he wants to leave it completely to investigators regarding his lawyer.

Jombang Police Chief Senior Adjutant Commissioner Moh Nurhidayat said that during the first eight days in detention, Joddy admitted that he had not appointed a lawyer to accompany him.

"The suspect leaves the appointment of [the lawyer] to us," he said, Thursday (11/18). 

"Investigators said the suspect would [use] the lawyer appointed by the police or provided by the state."

That way, the police will help Joddy get the assistance in accordance to his rights as a suspect.

East Java Police spokesman Senior Commissioner Gatot Repli Handoko previously stated Joddy were subject to two articles, namely Article 310 paragraph (4) and/or Article 311 paragraph (5) of Law Number 22/2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation.

With regard to Article 310 paragraph (4), Joddy is suspected of being negligent in driving and causing fatalities. Meanwhile, Article 311 paragraph (5) contains intentional driving to endanger other people. (mcr12/mcr20/jpnn)
