jpnn.com, KUDUS - The Sangiran Early Human Site Preservation Center (BPSMP), together with the Patiayam Kudus Museum, evacuated a 1.5-meter-long ancient elephant ivory fossil, Friday (17/12).
The fossil was discovered in a rice field on the slopes of the Patiayam mountain, Jekulo district, Kudus regency, Central Java.
"Alhamdulillah [thank God], the elephant ivory fossil was evacuated in good condition since it involved a team of experts from the Sangiran BPSMP under a joint team," said Patiayam Kudus Museum coordinator Jamin.
Jamin said that the excavation process was initially predicted to take two days. Apparently, it only took one day.
Based on the experience, when entering the rainy season, many ancient fossils were found in the Patiayam area as farmers started farming.
In addition to the elephant ivory fossil, the Sangiran BPSMP will also check the fossil findings at two other locations, including an ancient bull fossil whose head had been removed but there were still rib fragments.
