jpnn.com, DEPOK - Dozens of houses in the Griya Yudha Garuda complex, Pondok Petir village, Bojongsari district, Depok, West Java, were flooded as the embankment of Kali Angke was damaged.

This followed heavy rains that flushed the area on Thursday (16/12) afternoon.

"All the water spilled into the settlement, with the flood height reaching approximately 50 centimeters," Gozali, a local resident, told JPNN.com, Friday (17/12).

Gozali said it was the second time this had happened.

"Previously, it had also broken and was repaired. But now, it's broken again even worse," he said.

The local residents immediately went to work to temporarily close the broken embankment with makeshift equipment so that the water entering the settlement could be reduced.

"We're covering it using plywood, wood, and sacks for a while. Otherwise, the floodwater will not recede," he said.

The community hopes that the government can take quick steps in dealing with the broken embankment.
