Unsri Lecturer Who Allegedly Harassed Students Arrested
jpnn.com, SUMATERA SELATAN - A Sriwijaya University (Unsri) lecturer with the initial A, who is a suspect in the case of harassment against female students on campus, has been taken into custody.
Before being locked up, A was first taken to the Bhayangkara M Hasan Hospital in Palembang to undergo an antigen test.
He was brought by a team of investigators of the South Sumatra Police to the hospital. When leaving the car park, the suspect covered his face using a coat belonging to one of his lawyers.
He chose to remain silent, providing no statement to the media crew.
"We took him to Bhayangkara Hospital for an antigen examination because this is one of the requirements before entering the detention center. Tonight, the suspect will immediately enter the cell at around midnight," said Commissioner Masnoni on Monday.
Meanwhile, the attorneys of the suspect, Darmawan and Yopi Bharata, gave their responses regarding the detention of their client.
According to Yopi, before going to court, his client still hasn't been convicted of a crime.
"It is necessary to clarify here that our client's confession before investigators does not mean that he has committed a criminal act per legal process. The incident was true, but it needs to be straightened out and assessed by the prosecutors and judges in court," said Yopi.
