jpnn.com, SULAWESI TENGAH - Many recipients of stimulant funds for the repair of houses after disasters have not use the funds properly.

This has halted the post-earthquake, tsunami, and liquefaction rehabilitation process since three years ago in Palu and Donggala, Central Sulawesi.

"After given the stimulant funds, the recipients did not use them according to the plan, namely to repair their houses damaged by the disasters," said Military Resort Command territorial head Colonel H. Rahman T. Leho at the Central Sulawesi Governor's Office, Friday (12/11).

Rahman said the central government's funds, which were given through the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), were actually used by many recipients to buy their basic commodities.

"That's why many houses have not been repaired because the funds were used up to buy other needs," he said.

He also regretted the attitude of the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) in the affected areas that seemed unbothered by this issue.

"When asked, the BPBD responded that the funds had been handed over to the recipients and it was the responsibility of the recipients as to how to spend it," he said.

He hoped that all relevant parties would take this seriously so that the rehabilitation and reconstruction program could be finished soon and people could actually return to their pre-disaster activities. (antara/mcr20/jpnn)
