Number of Victims Die in Batu Flash Flood Increases to Six
english.jpnn.com, BATU - The Batu Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) has announced that the number of victims died in a flash flood in Batu city, East Java, has increased to six.
"As of 11 a.m., six people were reported to have died," said the head of the agency, Agung Sedayu, in Batu, Friday (11/5).
He detailed that the victims who died consisted of four residents of Sambong hamlet, one resident of Sabrang Bendo hamlet, and one who lived in the Jalan Kartini area.
In addition, officers are still looking for three people who were reported missing when a flash flood hit several parts of the city.
"It is still in the search process," he said.
Agung explained that apart from deploying officers to search for flood victims, his agency also accommodated the needs of the victims, helped clean up residual waste, and repaired damaged facilities.
The flash flood on Thursday (4/11) hit several villages, including Sumber Brantas, Bulu Kerto, Tulung Rejo, Padang Rejo, and Sidomulyo. (antara/mcr13/mcr20/jpnn)
