Kunlavut Vitidsarn Eliminated in First Round of World Championships

jpnn.com, HUELVA - The runner-up of the 2021 BWF World Tour Finals, Kunlavut Vitidsarn, unexpectedly lost in the first round of the 2021 World Championships.

The Thai badminton champion was defeated in two straight games 16-21, 12-21 by China's Lu Guang Zu in the match that took place in Huelva, Spain, Sunday (12/12).

After the match, Vitidsarn, the title winner of the Eddy Choong Most Promising Player 2020/21, admitted that he was still tired after competing for three consecutive months.

Vitidsarn had played in the 2021 Indonesia Badminton Festival (IBF), which was held in Bali since December 5.

However, Vitidsarn was reluctant to use fatigue as the main reason behind his defeat in this match.

"It was a very tiring match, I could not control the match. I lost quickly to my opponent and did not adapt," he said.

Lu, on the other hand, admitted that he had been preparing well for the 2021 BWF World Championships.

"Before this match, I had prepared thoroughly. I wanted to steal as many wins as possible and win the tournament," said Lu.

After defeating Vitidsarn, the player ranked 27th in the world will challenge Chou Tien Chen in the top 32.
