Jokowi Proud of Indonesia's Achievement in 2020 AFF Cup

jpnn.com, JAKARTA - Responding to the results of the 2020 AFF Cup, President Joko Widodo said that he was proud of the struggle of the Indonesian national team even though it did not occupy the top position.

The second leg of the 2020 AFF Cup finals between Indonesia and Thailand on Saturday (1/1) night ended in a 2-2 draw. Thus, the Indonesian team lost to Thailand 2-6 on aggregate.

"Even though we haven't won yet, all Indonesian people and I are still proud of your struggle," said Jokowi through his Instagram account, Saturday (1/1).

The President assessed that the Indonesian Garuda squad had fought with perseverance and sportsmanship in the tournament.

He congratulated Thailand for winning the 2020 AFF Cup.

Indonesia's two goals in the last match were scored by Ricky Kambuaya and Egy Maulana. Meanwhile, Thailand's two goals were scored by Adisak Kraisorn and Sarach Yooyen.

With these results, Indonesia has become the country with the most second place wins in the AFF Cup. The same achievement was recorded by Indonesia in 2000, 2002, 2004, 2010, and 2016.
