On the other hand, Jokowi argued, Indonesia was a country that had succeeded in managing the climate in the context of sustainable development.
"Sustainable forest management policies must combine environmental with economic and social considerations. Partnerships with communities are also prioritized," said the President.

In front of world leaders, President Jokowi explained that the social forestry program was made so that forest conservation was in line with the creation of livelihoods for the surrounding community.
This is important because 34 percent of villages in Indonesia are located on the borders or within forest areas.

"Millions of Indonesian people depend on the forestry sector for their livelihood. Denying this is not only unrealistic but also unsustainable," he said.
Jokowi said 90 percent of the world's population who lived in extreme poverty depended on forests.
Misusing the issue of climate change as a trade barrier was a big mistake, he added.
"This will erode trust in international cooperation to overcome climate change and even hinder sustainable development, which is really needed," he said.
The former Jakarta governor considered forest management within the framework of sustainable development to be the only option.
Indonesia is ready to share experiences and knowledge for that, according to him.
"Let's manage forests that are pro-environment, pro-development, and people-centered. This is the main goal of the Forest, Agriculture, and Commodity Trade (FACT) Dialogue, which is chaired by Indonesia and the UK, so forests will become a sustainable solution for global climate action," he said.
In the meeting, there were only three speakers who received a special invitation from British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
In addition to Johnson, the President of Colombia and the President of Indonesia had the opportunity to speak.
Accompanying Jokowi were Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan and Minister of the Environment Siti Nurbaya Bakar. (tan/mcr20/jpnn)
