London Korean Film Festival to Be Held Next Month

jpnn.com, JAKARTA - The 16th London Korean Film Festival will be held in nine local theaters in London from November 4 to November 19, 2021.

The festival organizer said that 35 Korean films would be screened at the event, as reported by the Korea Herald on Monday (11/10).

A number of film genres to be screened include independent, classic, animated, and short films.

In 2020, the annual festival was held as an online-offline hybrid event due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Escape from Mogadishu, directed by Ryoo Seung-wan, was reportedly chosen for the opening of the festival. Meanwhile, Heaven: To the Land of Happiness directed by Im Sang-soo was chosen for the ending.

South Korean actor Youn Yuh-jung's Oscar-winning film will also be screened during the festival's special focus program organized by Mark Morris, an expert on Korean classics and a former lecturer in East Asian Culture at Cambridge University.

A number of films that will be screened in the special program are Fire Woman directed by auteur Kim Ki-young, The Housemaid directed by Im Sang-soo, and The Bacchus Lady directed by E J-young.

Docu Inside- Documentary Youn Yuh-jung produced by Lee Eun-kyu is also rumored to be screened during the festival. (between/mcr20/jpnn)
