According to the ministry's Bali office head, Jamaruli Manihuruk, some of the applicants had lived in Bali since their childhood. However, there were also those who applied for Indonesian citizenship due to a romantic relationship.

"Until now, they are still in the assessment process," he said.
According to Jamaruli, the process takes time because it requires a careful assessment.
"We must not be careless. We must really assess the seriousness of the foreigners concerned," he said.
One of the factors, said Jamaruli, was the applicants' daily routine in Bali, including their professional activities. (gie/mcr20/jpnn)
