Bali Hit by Severe Floods, Authorities Report Peak of La Nina

jpnn.com, BALI - The rain that has hit Denpasar, Badung, and other areas in Bali since last Sunday.

This is accompanied by high tides and strong winds, causing puddles of water and fallen trees at several points in Denpasar.

Dozens of residential points in the Denpasar area were flooded with water, high enough to enter houses.

Several points experienced severe flooding, including Pulau Misol Street, Tegal Permai Housing, Pemogan Permata Hijau Alley, Paku Sari Street, Griya Anyar Street, Padang Indah Housing Estate, and the Mekar Jaya Pemogan area.

Denpasar Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) head Ida Bagus Joni Arimbawa said all of those were the effects of Hurricane La Nina.

Gus Joni, as he is familiarly called, said that the peak of Hurricane La Nina in Bali happened throughout November.

"In accordance with the BMKG prediction, Hurricane La Nina will occur from November to February. Therefore, we urge the public to increase their vigilance," said Gus Joni, Monday (6/12).

Throughout the day, explained Gus Joni, his party deployed personnel of the rapid response team to combat the flooding and other natural disasters.

"Currently, the team continues to clean channels to speed up the flow of water, handle fallen trees, and evacuate people trapped," he explained.

According to Gus Joni, his party also continues to intensively coordinate with the BMKG to minimize the risks of the bad weather.

The public is advised to postpone traveling in case of heavy rains and to avoid large trees and billboards on the side of the road.
