Novia Widyasari Experienced Repeated Violence for Two Years
jpnn.com, JAKARTA - Komnas Perempuan Commissioner Siti Aminah Tardi has revealed that Novia Widyasari Rahayu had experienced repeated violence for almost two years before her death.
This made Novia depressed and decided to end her life by committing suicide.
"[Novia] was a victim of repeated and piled up violence in a duration of almost two years since 2019," Aminah said in a press release, Monday (6/12).
This information was known based on the communication between Komnas Perempuan and the victim, who had made a complaint before her death.
According to Aminah, Novia was trapped in a cycle of violence in a dating relationship.
The perpetrator, Second Brigadier Randy Bagus Hari Sasongko, allegedly forced the victim to abort her pregnancy in various ways, such as taking birth control pills, drugs, and herbs, and forced her to perform sexual intercourse.
"The forced abortion attempts happened twice," said Aminah.
Aminah said that based on the victim's information to Komnas Perempuan, the second abortion attempt caused Novia to bleed and lack platelets.
