Brawijaya Student Found Dead Beside Her Father's Grave

jpnn.com, MOJOKERTO - Police are still investigating the death of a female student named Novia Widyasari Rahayu (23), in Japan village, Sooko district, Mojokerto regency, East Java, on Thursday (2/12).

Novia, who studied at Brawijaya University, Malang, was found dead beside her father's grave, allegedly due to suicide.

Police suspected that Novia had allegedly committed suicide due to depression after being raped by her boyfriend and became pregnant.

"The allegation is still being investigated," said East Java Police spokesman Senior Commissioner Gatot Repli Handoko on Saturday (4/12).

Novia's mother had said that Novia had attempted suicide several times by drinking potassium, Gatot added.

According to Gatot, the Mojokerto Police are involved in the investigation, including exploring the information circulating on social media.

The death of the student went viral on social media. The hashtag #SAVENOVIWIDYASARI was trending on Twitter.

The East Java Police has followed up on the alleged involvement of a police member, Second Brigadier Randy Bagus Hari Sasongko, in the alleged suicide case.
